Warriors fall to the Devils

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women's soccer team outshot FDU-Florham by 10 shots, thanks to a flurry of second-half shots, but two first-half FDU-Florham goals helped it to a 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 16, at UPMC Field.

Junior Bridget Maaluom (Lynbrook, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) led the Warriors (9-4-1 overall, 2-1-1 MAC Freedom) with five shots on goal, but the Devils (11-4-1 overall, 4-1-1 MAC Freedom) were able to walk out with the shutout thanks to a 13-save effort from Erica Blackburn.

The Devils got on the board with an unassisted 40-yarder from Francesca Escudero off of a corner kick deflection in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Their second goal in the 27th minute was headed in by Ashley Dietrich at the left post from a corner kick by Tatiana Nieto.

Senior goalkeeper Jess Riordan (Vineland, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy) made six saves for the Warriors.

The Warriors return to play on Wednesday, Oct. 20, as they host 10th-ranked Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action at 4 p.m. at UPMC Field.
