Warriors split in Tip-Off Classic

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – First-year Camryn Quelet (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) posted 13 kills, seven digs and a block for the Lycoming College volleyball team in a 3-0 (22-25, 9-25, 15-25) exhibition win over Harrisburg Area Community College in the first of two matches in the Lycoming Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Lamade Gymnasium. The Warriors fell to Nazareth College, 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) in their second match of the day.
 
First-year Brynne Bisel (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) led the Warriors (8-12 overall) with 15 kills against the Hawks, who opened the season ranked seventh in the NJCAA, while junior Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) rounded out the top three in kills with six.
 
First-year setter Piper Schwenk (Lyon Station, Pa./Brandywine Heights) had a team leading 26 assists against HACC (6-3 overall). First-year Sydney Guethlein (Cincinnati, Ohio/West Clermont) had two aces and one block in the match, while first-year Ali Koval (Mansfield, Pa./North Penn-Mansfield) led the team with 18 digs and two aces.
 
Megan DiAngelis led HACC with eight kills and Sydnee Wishard had 16 digs.
 
The Warriors totaled a .337 hitting percentage and held HACC to 19 kills and an overall -.033 hitting percentage.
 
Nazareth (8-7 overall) hit .209 and Zoe Tylipakis led the way with 14 kills in the second match.
 
Kelson led the Warriors with nine kills and four blocks. Quelet posted another six kills, two aces, and 13 digs for the Warriors. Schwenk notched two aces, one block, 15 assists and 10 digs.
 
Tylipakis also led the Flyers with nine digs while Tessa Grover had 26 assists.
 
The Warriors return to the court Tuesday, Oct. 12, as they host DeSales in a 7 p.m., MAC Freedom match in the Lamade Gym.
