Warriors fall to Pioneers

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A gritty effort that included taking a set off a one-loss team came up just short on Friday evening, as the Lycoming College volleyball team fell to Alfred State, 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 25-15) in the opening match of the Lycoming College Tip-Off Classic on Friday evening, Oct. 8.

The Warriors (8-11 overall) were led by seven kills from first-year Camryn Quelet (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and six kills a piece from first-year Brynne Bisel (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) and junior Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic). Bisel also posted six of the team's 55 digs and Kelson posted two digs, as did first-year Arianna Santos (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area.

The Warriors jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the second set, using three straight points from Santos to boost the lead to that mark after an ace. The Pioneers were able to cut the lead to two, but Lycoming used kills from Kelson and Quelet to gain some distance and Bisel had a kill to close out the set, 25-20.
