Warriors shutout Arcadia, 1-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Sophomore Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame) earned his first shutout of the season and the Lycoming College men's soccer team's sixth of the year, as the team downed Arcadia University, 1-0, in their first MAC Freedom match on Saturday, Oct. 2, at UPMC Field.
 
Senior Tyler Flood (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) scored the lone goal in the 49th minute for the Warriors (5-3-2 overall, 1-0 MAC Freedom). Flood notched his scoring strike off the right foot from inside the left corner of the box, as junior Brayden Wise (Baltimore, Pa./Archbishop Curley) sent it into the mixer after a corner kick was rebounded.
 
A strong defense held off Arcadia (4-7 overall, 0-1 MAC Freedom), keeping them to only six shots.
 
Wilke stopped all three shots faced while Jake Varrato made eight saves for the Knights
.
The Warriors return to play Tuesday, Oct. 5, heading to Wilkes University at 7 p.m. for another MAC Freedom matchup.
