Warriors fall to Lions

READING, Pa. – Freshman Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) led the Lycoming College men's basketball team with 20 points and seven rebounds and junior Darius Dangerfield (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) added 18 points, four assists and two steals, but a hot-shooting first half from Albright College helped it to a 75-57 MAC Commonwealth win on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Bollman Center.

Freshman Tobias Walden Jr. (New York, N.Y./Southern Columbia) posted six points and three rebounds and senior Ryan Hollis (Centreville, Md./Saints Peters & Paul) finished with five points, as Lycoming (16-8 overall, 9-6 MAC Commonwealth) was limited to just 34 percent from the floor (19-of-56).

Harward's 20 points give him 312 on the season, as he became the first Warrior freshman to score 300 points since Ihsaan Davis had 306 in 2009-10.

The Lions (13-10 overall, 8-6 MAC Commonwealth) shot 41 percent (27-of-66), including 14-of-29 (48 percent) in the first half. Albright jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first 10 minutes of the first half and after Lycoming fought back within six at 22-16 with 9:02 left after a free throw from freshman Mo Terry (Severn, Md./Severn School), the Lions closed the half on another 20-6 run.

Lycoming chipped the lead down to eight points after five points in a pair of possessions from Dangerfield made it 47-39 with 15:17 left, but Sidney Brown responded with a 3-pointer for Albright, starting a run of 10 straight points. Lycoming wasn't able to close within 15 again until freshman A.J. MacKrey (Lake Worth, Fla./Olympic Heights) hit a 3-pointer with 1:07 left.

Jordan Guerrero led the Lions with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Samuel Majekodumi also added 17 points and three assists. Corey Simmons posted 10 points.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Feb. 22, when they host Stevenson University at 3 p.m. in the MAC Commonwealth season finale.
