Warriors fall in pair at Knights Invitational

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Senior Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with 14 assists and 24 digs, but the team fell in a pair of matches at the Knights Invitational at Alumni Gym, falling to Haverford, 3-0, and Salisbury, 3-0, on Saturday, Sept. 21.
 
Junior Emily Konopka (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) and freshman Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) each had six kills to lead the Warriors (8-8 overall) against Haverford, which had 31 kills and 12 aces in the 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-11) win.
 
Junior Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) added four kills and eight digs and Morris posted two kills, 11 assists and 11 digs for another double-double. Senior Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) added eight assists and senior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added three kills.
 
Kendall Otridge led the Fords (13-1 overall) with seven kills and four blocks and Isabel Schwam had four aces. Sydney Miller posted 20 assists and Sara Matsumura posted 18 digs.
 
Titus and junior Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) each had seven kills in the nightcap, but Salisbury had 14 aces and seven blocks in the 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-15) win.
 
Sophomore Abigail Harney (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) had 18 assists and Morris posted three assists, an ace and 13 digs. Kelson and senior Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) each had three kills and Beck posted seven digs.
 
Jenna Feinauer led the Sea Gulls (9-2 overall) with eight kills and seven blocks and Claudia Sweitzer posted 11 assists and three digs. Amanda Chew also added seven digs and four aces.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 28, when the head to Hood College for a tri-match, facing Hood in a MAC Commonwealth match at 10 a.m. and Penn College at 12 p.m.
