FREDERICK, Md. – With solid hitting and blocking throughout the morning, the Lycoming College volleyball team enjoyed two sweeps on Saturday, Sept. 28, beating Hood College, 3-0, in MAC Commonwealth action before taking down Penn College, 3-0, in an early afternoon match.

A heavy-hitting effort that featured 36 kills to go with nine blocks helped Lycoming sweep Hood, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) in the opening match of the tri-match.

The Warriors (10-8 overall, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) matched their conference win total from 2018 with the win, as it held Hood (0-17 overall, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) to a .031 hitting percentage (23-20-98).

Lycoming posted 13 kills in the first set and 15 in the third, hitting better than .200 in both stanzas to drive the win, while it posted six blocks in the second set, forcing Hood to hit -.208 to post the win.

Senior
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) had six third-set kills, hitting .385, to go with eight kills, as she secured the win with a nice crosscourt kill late in the third to help thwart a late Blazers' rally.

Juniors
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) and
Elle Jednorski (Fallston, Md./Forest Hill) each had six kills as well, with Titus posting nine digs and Jednorski notching three blocks. Freshman
Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) posted five kills and six blocks and senior
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) had five kills, three blocks and four digs.

Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 30 assists, five aces, six digs and three kills and senior
Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) finished with 13 digs.

Hood was led by seven kills from Carrington Roy and 13 digs from Fabiola Melendez-Riviera. Walissa Jaque finished with six kills and four blocks.

The Warriors hit a season-best .427 in the win over Penn College, posting a 25-13, 25-9, 25-13 win, led by 15 kills from Jednorski, as she hit .684 with two blocks.

Titus added seven kills and five digs and both McDevitt and senior
Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) each had four kills and McDevitt added four aces.

Morris posted 17 assists, six aces and five digs and sophomore
Abigail Harney (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) added 16 assists. Beck paced the defense with 13 digs.

The Warriors hit .367 in the first set before posting a .583 hitting percentage in the second set, notching 14 kills in 24 swings with no errors. They finished the match by hitting .333 with 11 kills in the third set.

The Wildcats (1-12 overall) were led by five kills each from Emilie Mamati and Abbigale Mingus. Hannah Burnett posted six digs and Mackenzie Mahler had 17 assists.

The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, Oct. 1, when they host Albright at 7 p.m. in MAC Commonwealth action.
