Warriors split on second day at Kean Invitational

UNION, N.J. – With 22 kills on the day from junior all-tournament team member Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston), the Lycoming College volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of the Kean Invitational, beating Moravian, 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 26-16) before falling to NYU, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 14.
 
Jednorski led the Warriors with eight kills and three blocks and freshman Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) had three kills and six blocks to lead the Warriors (7-5 overall) against the Greyhounds (3-8 overall), as Lycoming held Moravian to a -.098 hitting percentage.
 
Senior Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 13 assists and five kills and junior Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) posted five kills, two aces and nine digs. Senior Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) had a match-high 16 digs and senior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) added seven.
 
Kirah Dreisbach led the Greyhounds with five kills and nine digs and Victoria Kauffman posted 13 assists and eight digs.
 
Jednorski also led the Warriors against NYU, notching 14 kills and hitting .345, to lead the team, but a .341-hitting NYU was able to secure the sweep.
 
Titus, junior Emily Konopka (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) and senior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each had five kills and Morris notched 30 assists and seven digs. Beck and sophomore Angie King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) each had seven digs as well.
 
Haley Holz led the Violets (9-1 overall) with 11 kills and Gretchen Kincade had 10. Kelsey Kraetz had six kills and five digs and Nicole Dao posted 24 assists. Jacqueline Kupeli posted 16 digs.
 
The Violets hit better than .300 in each set, while Lycoming hit better than .300 in the second set and .180 for the match.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Sept. 17, when they host Widener University in a 7 p.m. MAC Commonwealth match.
