Warriors fall to Kean, 3-1

KEAN, N.J. – Senior setter Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) led the Lycoming College volleyball team with her fifth double-double of the season, as Lycoming took a set off the defending NJAC champions, Kean University, but Kean was able to post a 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-19) win on Friday night, Sept. 13, at Harwood Arena.
 
Junior Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) led the Warriors (6-4 overall) with 13 kills and junior Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) finished with nine kills, hitting .333, and sophomore Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) added four kills and two blocks. Both junior Emily Konopka (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) and senior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each had five kills.
 
Senior Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) had 20 digs and senior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) had 11.
 
Lycoming took control of the first set when Titus had two kills in a four-point stretch after the score was tied at 14, helping the team take control. Kean closed within a point at 22-21 before McDevitt and Kelson closed out the set with kills.
 
The Cougars controlled the next two sets, winning 25-15, each time before the two teams battled to a tie at 14 in the third set. However, an 8-3 run helped Kean take control in the 25-19 win.
 
Zoe Strozewski had 17 kills and four blocks, hitting .374, and Jesse Larkin had 14 kills, hitting .538, to go with five blocks for the Cougars (7-3 overall). Kortnee Nelson posted 27 digs and Briana Calvano notched 45 assists and 10 digs.
 
The Warriors wrap up their time at the Kean Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14, when they face Moravian at 10 a.m. and NYU at 12 p.m.
