Warriors fall to Riverhawks
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Jess Riordan (Vineland, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy) made 19 saves in her NCAA debut, but the Lycoming College women's soccer team fell to the reigning Landmark Conference champions, Susquehanna University, 3-0, on Friday, August 30 at UPMC Field.
Riordan's 19 saves are the eighth-most in program-history and the most since
Joelle Winey also made 19 at Dickenson College in 2016.
Riordan kept the Warriors (0-1 overall) in the contest, as she was able to fight off 29 River Hawks (1-0 overall) shots.
Emily Wertz got the River Hawks on the board in the first half with a goal in the 16th minute. Anna Werner notched a goal and an assist in the second period and Caroline Lewis netted the final goal of the contest in the 67th minute.
Madi Welliver earned the win in goal for the River Hawks, notching one save.
The Warriors are back in action at UPMC Field on Sunday, Sept. 1, when they host Gwynedd Mercy at 2 p.m.
