Warriors fall to Mustangs

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, Pa./Randolph) finished with a game-high six goals and 16 draw controls, but the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team fell to MAC Commonwealth-leading Stevenson, 19-7, on Saturday, April 6, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

McGinniss scored her six goals on 13 shots, winning a game-high 16 draw controls and picking up three ground balls. Junior Hailey Kimble (Corning, N.Y/Corning-Painted Post) scored a goal on four shots and she also won one draw control. Freshman Erika Boyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and sophomore Cecilia Massey (Middletown, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) each added an assist.

Through just 12 games this year, McGinniss has picked up 178 draw controls, which is tied for seventh in NCAA Division III history. She is 11 shy of the Division III record of 189 set by Adrian's Brianna Plester in 2014.

McGinniss scored all four Lycoming goals in the first half, but a 5-1 run by Stevenson ended the period to extend their lead to 15-4 at the break.

The Warriors (2-10 overall, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) held Stevenson scoreless over the first 16 minutes of the second half, before they scored two straight. Kimble scored her lone goal at the 10:35 mark and McGinniss ended the game with her fifth and sixth dents of the twine.

Freshman Jordyn Altland (Hanover, Pa./South Western) saved eight shots during the first 30 minutes  before being relieved by sophomore Bailey Parchesky (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post), who made two saves.

Mack Ferguson made eight saves in the first 53 minutes to earn the victory. Beyonce Carrington made a save in six minutes of action.

The Mustangs were led by goals from 14 different players, with Melanie Meara finishing with a team-high three.

The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. when they head to Lebanon Valley College for a MAC Commonwealth contest at Arnold Field.
