WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Hailey Kimble (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) notched 12 points to tie the single-game program-record and senior Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) secured 19 draw controls to set the NCAA Divison III single-season record to lead the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team to a 21-12 victory over Arcadia University in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday, April 13 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
McGinniss, who now has 207 draw controls this season, surpassed Adrian's Brianna Plester's Division III record of 189 set in 2014. McGinniss, the program's career point leader, added 11 more with nine goals and two assists to become the first Warrior to tally 300 in a career (307).
Kimble posted seven goals and five assists to become the seventh player in school-history to total 12 points in a game and the first since Meghenn Jackson '17 did it against Misericordia in 2016.
The Knights (1-11 overall, 1-4 MAC Commonwealth) outscored Lycoming (3-11 overall, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth), 3-1, coming out of the half to cut the Warrior lead to 11-9 with 21:49 to go. The Warriors
responded with seven straight goals in the next 10 minutes to earn their largest lead of the afternoon, 18-9.
The teams went goal-for-goal to close out the contest, with the sixth and seven goals from Kimble and one from Peti rounding out the final margin.
McGinniss and Kimble each picked up three ground balls and combined to cause three turnovers. Junior Thamina Peti (York, Pa./West York Area) and sophomore Cecilia Massey (Middletown, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) each netted two goals, while Massey added an assist and caused a turnover. Freshman Emma Lehr (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) scored a goal and junior Alexis Tchou (Mount Airy, Md./Urbana) dished out an assist.
The Warriors cut an early 2-0 deficit in half with Kimble's first goal at the 24:31 mark. The Knights answered quickly with another score, before McGinniss scored two straight to knot the game at three.
Arcadia regained the lead two minutes later, but the Warriors went on a run of four straight goals with two coming from Massey and one each from McGinniss and Kimble to take a 7-5 lead, expanding the lead to four by halftime at 10-6.
In net, freshman Jordyn Altland (Hanover, Pa./South Western) earned the victory, making 10 saves before being relieved by sophomore Bailey Parchesky (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning Painted Post), who made eight stops in the second half.
Veandra Selby made nine saves for the Knights. Diana Perry led the Knights with six goals and five draw controls and Nicole Kress finished with a hat trick.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m., when they head to Alvernia University for a MAC Commonwealth game.
