WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College softball team fell twice to Messiah College in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader, 4-1 in game one and 11-0 in game two, on Wednesday, April 10, at Starry Field.

In game one, the Warriors (14-10 overall, 3-7 MAC Commonwealth) fell behind 2-0 in the second inning, but cut the deficit in half when they struck for a run in the top of the fourth.

Sophomore
Taylor Gessner (Lewisburg, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) and junior
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg)Â both singled and moved up on a double steal before freshman
Morgan Klosko (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) walked load the bases with no outs. The Falcons (15-15 overall, 6-6 MAC Commonwealth), however, got three outs in a row with the lone Warrior run coming off a fielder's choice from Kovin to plate Kline.

Freshman
Mikayla Aldenderfer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) settled in after the two second-inning runs to throw back-to-back scoreless frames before Messiah extended their lead to 4-1 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Warriors threated with base runners in the fifth and again in the seventh, but  Messiah held on for the three-run victory.

Kline and Gessner each finished 1-for-3 with a stolen base to highlight the Lycoming offense. Senior
Liz Nace (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and freshman
Kacee Reitz (Milton, Pa./Milton) also added singles and senior
Lexie Kovin (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) drove in a run.Â

Aldenderfer (9-5) threw six complete innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and struck out four.

In game two, the Falcons jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning before striking for three more over the course of the next two innings.

Messiah added five in the bottom half of the fourth and stranded one Warrior baserunner in the top of the fifth to earn the 11-0 victory.

Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) and freshman
Morgan Christine (Reigelsville, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) each had a single and
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) stole a base to lead the Warrior offense.

Nace (5-5) allowed six earned runs on 13 hits.

Rebekah Pais improved to 3-1 for Messiah while tossing a five-inning shutout and surrendering two Lycoming hits.

Haylee Anders finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and Erin Cressman went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Falcons offense.

The Warriors are back on the field Thursday, April 11 at 3 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader with Misericordia University at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
