Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

McGinniss reaches more milestones at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Senior Kelly McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) led the Lycoming College women's lacrosse team with four goals to become the fourth player in school history to reach 250 career points, but Oswego State University used 12-first half goals to spark a 21-7 non-conference victory on Saturday, March 9, at Laker Turf Stadium.

McGinniss reached the mark with her first goal of the game, the 223rd of her career and with her third of four goals, she moved past Megan McIntyre (2007-10) for third place in the school's record book. With 253 career points, McGinniss is 23 from the school record of 276 set by Megan Wallenhorst (2005-08). Her 226 goals are just seven shy of Wallenhorst's school record. McGinniss also moved into a tie for ninth in Division III history with 448 career draws with Eleanora Keene of Guilford (2012-15).

McGinniss posted a run of three straight goals to cut the Lakers' lead to 13-6 with 23:41 to go. Junior Hailey Kimble (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) scored her second goal of the game at the 20:22 mark to keep the Warriors within seven, but the Lakers (2-0 overall) followed with eight scores to close out the game.

McGinniss extended her conference lead in both goals and draw controls, finishing with four goals, 14 draw controls and a ground ball. Kimble notched a goal and an assist for the fourth straight game to start the season. Sophomore Cecilia Massey (Middletown, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) and senior Thamina Peti (York, Pa./West York Area) each scored a goal, while Peti also added two ground balls.

Oswego scored the first four goals of the game before Massey connected for her second goal of the season to make it 4-1 with 18:12 remaining. Oswego outscored the Warriors, 8-2, the remainder of the half, with Lycoming receiving unassisted goals from McGinniss and Peti.

Sophomore Bailey Parchesky (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) had three saves in the first 30 minutes before being relieved by freshman Jordyn Altland (Hanover, Pa./South Western), who also finished with three saves. Elianna Sanchez picked up the win in net for the Lakers, finishing with four saves.

Brigid Regin led the Lakers with five goals, while Molly Beck and Toni Laneve each added a hat trick.

The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday, March 12, at 4 p.m., when they host Messiah College in their MAC Commonwealth opener at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
