GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore
Taylor Gessner (Lewisburg, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) tallied three hits, including a double, to lead the Lycoming College softball team in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader, but Arcadia University picked up 8-1 and 5-1 decisions on Saturday, March 30 at Blankley Field.

In game two, seven Warriors found the hit column, as Gessner finished 2-for-4 and freshman
Kacee Reitz (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Juniors
Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) and
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) and seniors
Lexie Kovin (Yardley, Pa./Pennridge),
Cayla Treaster (Williamsport, Pa./Montoursville Area) and
Rachel Duda (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) added singles.

The Warriors (10-6 overall, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) scored in the first with three first-inning hits and Arcadia (12-6 overall, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) answered with two of their own to make it 2-1 after the first inning. Nace drew a one-out walk and Gessner singled to right to set up first and second. Back-to-back singles to left field from Kline and Reitz brought Nace around to score.

Nace settled in to retire the next seven Arcadia hitters before surrendering a walk and a single in the bottom of the fourth. Â Nace got out of the jam without allowing a run. However, the Knights brought seven batters to the plate in the fifth and brought in three more runs to extend their lead to 5-1.

Mary Pat Murray (6-2) closed out the game to earn the complete-game victory for the Knights, allowing one run on eight hits and striking out eight.

Nace (3-2) was charged with four earned runs in six innings, while striking out two.

In game one, Arcadia struck for three runs in the first and in the third to take control. The Knights tacked on a run in the fifth before the Warriors broke through in the top of the sixth when Gessner doubled and was knocked in by Kline on a fielder's choice to make it 7-1 heading into the bottom half of the sixth.

The Knights followed with two runs to go ahead 9-1 in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

Freshman
Mikayla Aldenderfer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (7-4) allowed six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings, striking out two. Treaster allowed two runs in 1/3 inning.

Nace was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Gessner was 1-for-2 with a double. Junior
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) added a single and Kline notched an RBI.

Kylee Schwind (5-4) threw six innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out nine to earn the win. Hunter Schantz was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI to lead the Knights.

The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, April 3, for a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader when they head to Elm Park to face local foe Penn College.
