NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Junior
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) extended her hit streak to 15 games dating back to 2017, while notching her seventh multi-hit game of the year to lead the Lycoming College softball team to a split on its final day at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex, as Lycoming posted a 2-0 win over Albert Magnus in the afternoon after falling to Greenville, 4-3, in the morning on Friday, March 15.

The Warriors (7-1 overall) head back to Williamsport sporting a .364 team-batting average, as Kline (18-for-29) leads four players hitting .450 or better. Junior
Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) (.538), freshman
Kacee Reitz (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) (.500) and junior
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) (.462) round out the group.

Freshman
Mikayla Aldenderfer (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) (5-1) threw a complete game shutout, striking out three to lead the Warriors to a 2-0 victory over Albertus Magnus (4-3 overall).

The Warriors struck for two runs in the first inning to go ahead, 2-0. Nace led off with a single, which led to back-to-back doubles by sophomore
Taylor Gessner (Lewisburg, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) and Kline, scoring Nace and Gessner.

The Warriors could not add to their lead, but Aldenderfer stranded seven Albertus Magnus runners to earn the shutout.

Kline finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI and senior
Rachel Duda (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) notched her first multi-hit game of the year, singling twice. Brown, Gessner and seniors
Liz Nace (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and
Lexie Kovin (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) each added a hit.

Erin Dighello was handed the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits. Laura Anderson was 2-for-3 to highlight the Albert Magnus hitters.

In game one, the Warriors struck first to take a 1-0 lead into the top of the third. Kline led off the inning with a double down the left field line and was knocked in from a single to right-center from freshman
Morgan Klosko (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West).

Greenville scored in the top of the third, but the Warriors answered to remain on top, 2-1. Nace singled and Gessner reached on an error. A fielder's choice brought Warriner to the plate, who doubled to left center to score Gessner.

The Warriors tacked on another run in the following inning after a single by Brown scored Reitz, who reached safely earlier in the inning off a throwing error, making it 3-1.

A two-run home run by Greenville's Beth Mersinger tied the game a three in the top of the fifth. Both teams were held scoreless until the top of the seventh when Greenville was able to manufacture the winning run. In the bottom of the inning, a Warrior rally was thwarted when a liner from Kline was caught by a diving left fielder.

Brown, Kline and Klosko each finished 2-for-4 in the game. Warriner, Brown and Klosko finished with an RBI.

Nace (2-0) allowed three runs on eight hits through the first 4 1/3 innings before being relieved by Aldenderfer. Aldenderfer was given her first loss of the season, closing out the final 2 2/3, allowing one run on two hits.

Kendall Farr threw 5 1/3 while allowing three runs before being relieved by Cayla Speaks, who tossed the final 1 2/3 scoreless to earn the win. Kayla Zimmerman was 3-for-3 and Beth Mersinger was 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead Greenville.

The Warriors are back on the field for their home opener on Wednesday, March 20, when they host Elmira College for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
