Warriors host Stevenson with chance to clinch postseason berth

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - With wins in their last two games, the Lycoming College women's basketball team sits on the cusp of earning its fifth postseason bid in six years when Stevenson University comes to Lamade Gym for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb. 2.

The Warriors (15-6 overall, 9-3 MAC Commonwealth) posted a 58-32 win at Alvernia on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Sophomore Erica Lutz led the team with 10 points and 14 rebounds and junior Akilah McFadden notched 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

The Mustangs (10-10 overall, 5-6 MAC Commonwealth) fell to ninth-ranked Messiah on Wednesday. Two Mustangs, sophomore Olivia Coleman and senior Jonyae Curry each had double-doubles in the loss.

Game Notes
• With a win, Lycoming can clinch a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Championship. If Lycoming wins along with Messiah at Arcadia, the Warriors would clinch no worse than the No. 4 seed in the tournament.

• With a win, Lycoming can reach 16 wins for the ninth time in a school history and in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1995-97.

• Sophomore Erica Lutz and junior Kayla Kline are just the sixth duo in program history to each score 300 points in the same season.

• Kline needs 18 more points to become the 21st player in school history to post 750 in a career.

• With 72 career blocked shots, Lutz needs three more to tie Lyndy LeVan (199-03) for fifth in program history.

• With 170 career steals, junior Akilah McFadden needs one more to tie Janelle Ziminski (2011-15) for seventh in program history.

• Freshman Kelly Vuz needs five more points to become the first Warrior rookie to score 100 points since Kline and McFadden in 2017.
