WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
Erica Lutz (Bernville, Pa./Hamburg) posted her fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team, but it fell, 80-50, to No. 11 Messiah College in MAC Commonwealth action at Lamade Gym on Wednesday night, Dec. 11.

Lutz hit 8-of-12 from the field and added 10 of the team's 27 defensive rebounds as well as two blocks, as Lycoming (6-3 overall, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) shot 37 percent (18-of-49) from the field. Messiah shot 41.3 percent (31-of-75).

The Falcons started the game on a 9-2 run and when the Warriors closed within four off a layup from senior
Morgan Mader (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), the Falcons started a 14-4 run to end the first period, leading 24-10. In the second quarter, Messiah led by as many as 30 near the end of the period at 48-18 before an old-fashioned three-point play from freshman
Kenzie Reed (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) ended the half with Messiah leading 48-21.

In the third quarter, the Warriors were able to cut the lead down to 20 points with the first seven points of the period, five of them coming in transition. Messiah was able to get the lead back to 27 by the end of the period, though, and never let Lycoming within 25 in the fourth quarter.

Mader finished with seven points and two steals and senior
Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) posted five points, three assists and two steals. Both freshman
Emily Zoscin (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly Area) and sophomore
Alex Jones (Glenshaw, Pa./Saint Joseph) added four points a piece.

Leah Springer led the Falcons with 23 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals and Jayneisha Davis added 13 points, six assists and six steals.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Dec. 14, when they head to MAC Commonwealth preseason favorite Widener for a 1 p.m. game.
