WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –Two first-half goals by freshmen and the team's sixth shutout of the year equaled a 3-0 victory for the Lycoming College men's soccer team over MAC Commonwealth foe Widener University on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, at UPMC Field on Homecoming & Family Weekend.

The Warriors (7-4 overall, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) are winners of five of their last six games and have not lost a conference opener since 2013.

The Warriors opened up the scoring in the eighth minute when freshman
Jayson Butler (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) beat the keeper right with a bullet off a deflected shot from sophomore
Jared Moses (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School ). Lycoming extended the lead to two when freshman
Kellen Krebs (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle) connected on a header off a pass from 30-yards out from senior
Lance Klinger (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) in the 39
th minute.

The Warriors put the game out of reach in the 71
st minute when sophomore
Tyler Flood (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) finished off a breakaway by hitting a streaking sophomore
Josh Cruz (Laurel, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) with a perfect lead pass in the middle of the box. Cruz buried the one-timer past the right of the keeper for his first goal of the season.

The Warriors doubled the Pride in shots (16-8), adding nine corners to Widener's five.

Freshman
Kevin Kelly (Great Barrington, Mass./Berkshire School) played the first 82 minutes and did not allow a goal in his fifth victory of the season before handing duties over to sophomore
Zack Donoway (Newark, Md./Snow Hill) to close out the game. John Warick made five saves for the Pride (7-4 overall, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth).
