Bella Green (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) connected on a header in the first half and sophomore
Jess Riordan (Vineland, N.J./Our Lady Of Mercy) notched her second shutout of the season to lead the Lycoming College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over crosstown rival Penn College in the Battle for the Lumber on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at UPMC Field.

The Warriors (7-3-1 overall) scored the game-winner in the 41st minute when sophomore
Alicia Blizzard (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) sent a corner kick into the middle of the box and Green soared up-and-over the defense to power a header to the upper-left 90 of the goal. The goal gave Green the first of her career and Blizzard her team-leading fifth assist.

The Warriors maintained possession on their half of the field for the majority of the contest, outshooting the Wildcats (3-5-1 overall), 27-11, while limiting Penn College to four shots on goal.

Sophomore
Bailey Gilmore (Ivyland, Pa./Germantown Academy) fired off a game-high eight shots, with Green finishing behind her with five and Blizzard and sophomore
Megan Oyler (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) each taking four.

In net, Riordan tallied four saves in her fourth win of the year and Taylor Gonzales made four stops for the Wildcats.

The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 12:30 p.m. when they host MAC Commonwealth foe Widener University as part of Homecoming & Family Weekend.
