Warriors sweep Lions

ALTOONA, Pa. – Senior Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 30 assists and 10 digs for her 10th double-double of the season to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team, which hit .259 in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) sweep of Penn State Altoona in non-conference action on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Adler Arena.
 
Morris also added three kills and three aces for the Warriors (15-11 overall), who clinched their first .500 season since 2015, with the win. Junior Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) led the Warriors with 13 kills and junior Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) posted nine kills and eight digs. Freshman Elizabeth Kelson (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) posted six kills and four digs and junior Emily Konopka (Wrightstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) had seven kills and a block.
 
Senior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led the team with four aces and senior Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) added 13 digs.
 
After the first set was tied at 11, senior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) served up three points before Morris served up six, giving Lycoming a 21-12 lead. The Lions (6-9 overall) scored the next six points, but Lycoming closed out the set with a kill from Konopka to win 25-19.
 
In the second set, the Warriors used six straight points off the serve from Singleton to take a 19-13 lead. Penn State Altoona closed within four points twice, but Morris again closed a 25-19 win with an ace.
 
Lycoming hit .393 (13-2-28) in the third set, jumping out to a 14-8 lead before expanding it to 10 points at 20-10 before closing out the 25-15 win with an ace from McDevitt.
 
Jenna Bauer led the Lions with 11 kills, nine digs and four blocks and Lauren Diller had six kills and five blocks. Emily Bryan finished with 14 assists.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they host Stevenson University in MAC Commonwealth action at 1 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
