Warriors host Alvernia to get back into conference play

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After nearly a month off from MAC Commonwealth competition, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will step back into conference play when it hosts Alvernia University on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. in Lamade Gym.

The Warriors (7-8 overall, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth) fell in the Basinger Tournament consolation game to Haverford, 82-64. Senior Calvin Chandler led a late Warrior comback behind a career-high 24 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Darius Dangerfield finished with 18 points and seven assists.

The Golden Wolves dropped a heartbreaker at the buzzer to Stevenson, 67-64, on Jan. 3. Freshman Malik Green led three players in double figures, finishing with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

Game Notes
• The Warriors are 12-8 all-time on Jan. 9, including a 79-66 win against Hood in 2016.

• Since joining the MAC Commonwealth, Lycoming (2008, six) and Alvernia (2009, four) have appeared in more conference championship finals than any other teams in the league.

• The Warriors are holding opponents to a conference-low 31 percent on 3-pointers this season.

• Freshman Markanthony Fidelis (16.3 ppg) and Golden Wolves' freshman Malik Green (14.5 ppg) are the top two scoring freshmen in the MAC Commonwealth.

• Fidelis needs six points to become the first Warrior rookie to score 250 in a season since T.J. Duckett in 2015-16.

• With his sixth of seven assists against Haverford, sophomore Darius Dangerfield reached 100 in his career.

• With his 11th of 24 points against Haverford, senior Calvin Chandler reached 400 in his career.
