Warriors open New Year with Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After closing out 2018 with two victories, the Lycoming College men's basketball team will look to enter the New Year with similar success when they host Penn State Abington in the opening round of the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament on Friday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. 

The Warriors (7-6 overall) posted a 66-49 win over Marymount on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Freshman Markanthony Fidelis notched his first career double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) and freshman Matt Ilodigwe netted 11 points, marking his third straight game in double-figures. 

The Nittany Lions (4-5 overall) fell to Arcadia 89-75 in their last outing. Jay Fitzgerald finished with a team-high 17 points to lead six players in double-figures. 

Warrior Notes 

• The Warriors have won six of the eight Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament championships, including the last three. The Warriors are 8-0 in the first round of the tournament.

• The Warriors are 15-0 all-time against opponents from the North East Athletic Conference.

• Lycoming is 3-0 when holding opponents under 70 points.

• Senior Calvin Chandler is 15 points away from reaching 400 in his career.

• The Warriors lead the conference with an average of 9.5 3-point field goals made per game.
