Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

#20 Warriors win fifth straight

DALLAS Pa. – Freshman Colin Wieand (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown Area) scored in the first half and junior Lance Klingler (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) scored in the second to lead the 20th-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory against non-conference opponent Misericordia University, on Wednesday evening, Sept. 26, at Mangelsdorf Field.

The Warriors (7-1-1 overall) were able to strike first, coming off a corner kick from senior Jake Webb (Fairless Hills, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic). Junior Jimmy Wilcox (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills) found sophomore Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) in the middle of the goal box, who used a shifty move to tap the ball to Wieand, who scored from five yards out for his second goal of the season.

Webb was not done setting up Warrior goals, as he used a free-kick from 20 yards out to find Klingler, who gave the Warriors a two-goal lead when he scored in the 49th minute.

The nationally-ranked Warriors were on the attack for the majority of the game, outshooting the Cougars (1-6-1 overall), 17-5, and winning the corner-kick battle 9-1.

Reigning MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week senior Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) captured his fifth shutout of the season, finishing with two saves. Dominic Pizzi finished with seven saves while facing nine shots on goal for Misericordia.

The Warriors are back in action Saturday, Sept. 29, when they head to Reading, Pa., to take on Albright College in the MAC Commonwealth opener at 8 p.m.
