Hot-hitting McDevitt helps Warriors sweep Lions

READING, Pa. – Junior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) had 15 kills, hitting a career-best .737, to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team to a key 3-0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-21) sweep of Albright College in MAC Commonwealth action on Tuesday night, Sept. 25, at the Bollman Center.
 
Junior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) added 10 kills and 10 digs for her second double-double in three matches. Sophomore Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) added nine kills and three blocks and freshman Angie King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) added six kills and nine digs.
 
The Warriors (9-6 overall, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) hit .271 (49-17-118) in the match, posting 49 kills, while holding Albright to just .058 (26-20-104), as they were forced into 20 errors. Senior Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) led the team with 21 digs, while freshman Abigail Harney (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) paced the offense with 34 assists.
 
In the first set, the Warriors overcame a 13-8 and 18-15 deficit, battling back into the set with seven of the next eight points to take the lead, with Singleton pacing the run with two kills. Albright battled back to tie the set at 24 and had a chance for a set point at 26-25, but the Warriors won three straight points to take the win.
 
Lycoming hit .364 (16-4-33) in the second set, paced by six kills in seven swing from McDevitt and five kills in seven swings from King, as the team cruised to a 25-19 win. In the third set, Lycoming's defense held Albright to a -.091 (7-10-33) hitting percentage en route to the 25-21 win.
 
Albright was led by eight kills from Kaitlyn Chell and 18 assists and 11 digs from Alexa Poss. Becca Davis posted 19 digs.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Sept. 25, when they head to the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University, facing Marymount (Va.) at 4 p.m. and Elmira at 6 p.m.
