OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Coming within nine points of becoming the first MAC Commonwealth opponent to knock off Stevenson University, the Lycoming College volleyball team put together one of its best performances of the season in a 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 15-10) decision to the perennial conference favorites on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Owings Mills Gym to kick off a tri-match. The Warriors also fell to Washington (Md.), 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-14, 25-6) in the nightcap.

Against Stevenson (8-6 overall, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth), the Warriors (8-6 overall, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) posted wins in the first and third sets, using solid defense and taking advantage of 13 Mustang errors in the two stanzas.

The Mustangs overcame a 20-19 deficit in the fourth set to post a 25-20 win and in the fifth, the Warriors jumped out to a 6-3 lead before the Mustangs put together a 8-1 run to take an 11-7 lead. The Warriors pulled back within a point at 11-10 after the 15
th kill of the match from junior
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic), but the Mustangs won the last four points to sneak out with the win.

Singleton led the Warriors with 15 kills, 13 digs and two blocks and sophomore
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) added 10 kills, six digs and two blocks. Junior
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) added 36 assists, 13 digs, three kills and two aces. Junior
Katie Hausknecht (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) added eight kills and three blocks and junior
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added seven kills, hitting .462, to go with three blocks.

Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) notched 18 digs and freshman
Alia Post (Sayre, Pa./Sayre) also notched 11 digs.

Katie Leftridge led the Mustangs with 16 kills and 15 digs and Chelsea Ireland added eight kills, four aces and five blocks. Sarah Riggin posted 25 digs and Julie Nightwine posted 20 assists and nine digs.

Against Washington (6-8 overall), the Warriors hit .000 while the Shorewomen hit .210 to post a 3-1 win.

McDevitt led the Warriors with 11 kills, hitting .391, to go with four digs and a block. Singleton added nine kills and seix digs and Titus added seven kills. Morris notched 17 assists and 11 digs and freshman
Abigail Harney (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) had 14 assists and two aces. Hepner led the defense with a match-high 29 digs.

Lizzie Baden led the Shorewomen with 10 kills and Isabella Sansanelli added nine kills and four blocks. Abby Smith led the team with 14 digs and Lauren Zedlar notched 16 assists, nine digs and three blocks. Jenna Daunoras added 10 blocks.

The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Sept. 25, when they head to Albright College for another key MAC Commonwealth matchup at 7 p.m.
