WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman
Bronwen Lewis (Cresaptown, Md./Allegany) made three saves and did not allow a goal in 45 minutes of action, but the Lycoming College women's soccer team could not overcome three first-half scores, falling to Alvernia University, 3-0, in both teams' MAC Commonwealth opener at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Sunday evening, Sept. 16.

The Warriors (1-7 overall, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) were able to double their shots in the second half, including a 1-on-1 fast-break opportunity from
sophomore
Elle Sarracco (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) in the 72
nd minute that hit the crossbar. Freshman
Bailey Gilmore (Ivyland, Pa./Germantown Academy) also added two shots on goal.

The Golden Wolves (1-4-1, 1-0) benefitted from two goals from Alison Hyde and one from Annie Rose in the first half.

Senior
Helen Ross (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) started the game for the Warriors and finished with one save before giving way to Lewis, who finished out the game. Lily Sankey and Kayla Samero combined for a six-save shutout for Alvernia.

The Warriors are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 18 when they head to Scranton, Pa., to take on Marywood University in a non-conference game starting at 4 p.m.
