Willis leads Warriors in Battle for the Lumber

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Tajhon Willis (Edgewood, Md./Joppatowne) had a goal and three assists to lead the Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 6-0 victory in the Battle for the Lumber against crosstown rival Penn College on Sunday afternoon Sept. 16.
 
Six different players scored in their third straight win, as the fourth-ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic region improved to 5-1-1 overall. Penn College fell to 1-3 overall.
 
Junior Zach Raut (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) got the scoring started in the eighth minute when he headed a ball past the goalkeeper off a 35-yard free kick from sophomore Jared Moses (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School) for his second goal of the season. Junior Jimmy Wilcox (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills) followed that up in the 15th minute, firing a free-kick to beat the keeper high right.
 
Willis had a foot in the final four goals, assisting senior Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair), freshman Tolu Iluyomade (Baltimore, Md./Mount Saint Joseph), and junior George Charalabidis (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township for their first goals of the season. Willis added his own goal, his second of the season, beating the keeper right off a lead pass from freshman Tyler Flood (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) in the 70th minute.
 
In his first career start freshman Zack Donoway (Newark, Md./Snow Hill) picked up the win in goal and finished with three saves in the first half. Freshman Ryan Litterer (Colonia, N.J/Colonia) played the entire second half to finalize the shutout and also finished with 3 saves.
 
Brenden Skwirut played the entire 90 minutes for the Wildcats and racked up 6 saves.
 
The Warriors will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 22 for a 2 p.m. start, hosting Christopher Newport in a non-conference match-up at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
