WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women's soccer team fell to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference power Mount Aloysius, 3-0, in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 1.
The Warriors (0-2 overall) had a key scoring chance in each half to get on the board. With 7:45 left in the second half, freshman
Bailey Gilmore (Ivyland, Pa./Germantown Academy) received a beautiful cross from freshman
Megan Oyler (Bedford, Pa./Bedford), who fired a shot off the right hand of a diving Lauren Davey, who made 10 stops to earn the shutout.
That would become a common theme of the game. The Warriors tied the Mounties (1-0 overall) in total shots with 12, but couldn't find the net.
Kourtney Walls led the Mounties with a goal in each half and Katie Mirance also added a score.
Sophomore
Elle Sarracco (Wantage, N.J/High Point Regional) flew past defenders all game long, finishing with two shots, both on goal.
In net, freshmen
Bekki Weller (Millmont, Pa./Mifflinburg) and
Bronwen Lewis (Crespatown, Md./Allegany) each had two saves in one half of action.
The Warriors get back on the field on Tuesday, Sept. 4, when they travel to Towson, Md., to take on Goucher College at 4 p.m.
