Warriors open 2018 with tie at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Senior Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) recorded his 12th career shutout, doing it by going the full 110 minutes to help lead the 20th-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team in a 0-0 double-overtime tie against preseason Presidents' Athletic Conference favorite Grove City on Friday night, Aug. 31 at College Field.

The Warriors (0-0-1 overall) took 18 shots in the game, putting six on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net, while the Wolverines (0-0-1 overall) took 10 shots. Lycoming shut down Grove City in the overtime periods, taking six shots while holding Grove City to one.

Solecki's 12 career shutouts are sixth in school history, one shy of tying David Bald (2006-09) for fifth.

Both teams had six corner kicks in the game and sophomore Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) led the Warriors with four shots. Freshman Kalu Ume (Laurel, Md./Laurel) and junior Zach Raut (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) each had three shots.

Luke Greenway notched six saves to earn the shutout for the Wolverines. Jon Burton led the team with four of its 10 shots.

The Warriors get back into action on Saturday, Sept. 1, when they head to Geneva for a 6 p.m. start in Beaver Falls, Pa.
