Warriors fall to Blazers to cap season

FREDERICK, Md. – Senior Duc Dang (Winooski, Vt./Winooski) won a match at No. 5 singles to lead the Lycoming College men's tennis team, which wrapped up its 2017-18 campaign on Saturday, April 28, as it fell to MAC Commonwealth foe Hood College, 6-3, at the Hood Tennis Complex.

Dang posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Alex Beaumont to finish his lone season with the program with a 3-3 MAC Commonwealth record and a 5-10 overall singles record.

The Warriors (6-11 overall, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) also picked up forfeit wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles, but Hood (3-9 overall, 3-4 MAC Commonwealth) won the two contested doubles matches and four singles bouts.

The match was also the final one in the careers of seniors Rob Smith (Middleburg, Pa./Selinsgrove), Alhoun Lundy (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt) and Zachary High (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain). Smith finished his three-year career second in program history with a 35-22 singles record. High won 14 matches in his four-year career and Lundy posted 10.

The Warriors finished with six wins for the third straight year under eighth-year head coach LeRoy Baer, marking the longest stretch of six-win seasons since the team won at least six dual meets every year from 1960-68.
