ELIMIRA, N.Y. – Senior
Ashley Schoenstadt (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) stole her program record 33
rd stolen base and the Lycoming College softball team posted a combined 24 hits and 20 runs in its non-conference doubleheader with Elmira College, winning both games, 10-3, onTuesday afternoon, April 24, at Eldridge Park.

Schoenstadt, who also played in a program-best 137
th game, set the career stolen base mark in the top of the fourth inning of the first game with her eighth stolen base of the season, breaking a tie with Jeanine Evans (1997-00) for the program career mark. The senior center fielder also helped pace an explosive offensive output that saw a combined eight players' record multi-hit afternoons.

Strong pitching backed each win, with senior
Rachael Shady (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) throwing a complete-game six-hitter in the opener, allowing just one earned run, and junior
Liz Nace (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) continued her strong play in the circle with a complete second game, allowing no earned runs or walks.

In the opener, eight players recorded a hit and five posted at least two as the Warriors (10-22 overall) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first. Freshman
Taylor Gessner (Lewisburg, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) started off a four-hit day at the plate with a leadoff single. After sophomore
Madison Brown (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) reached on an error, Schoenstadt moved them both over with a sacrifice bunt. Shady followed with a walk before an RBI single from sophomore
Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) and an RBI groundout from junior
Cayla Treaster (Williamsport, Pa./Montoursville Area) got Lycoming on the board.

The Warriors added three two-out runs in the top of the third on senior
Samantha Fischer's (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) first-pitch single through the left side and sophomore
Lydia Yorks' (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) followed with a two-run single.

Elmira scored a run in the fourth, but Lycoming put up a run in the sixth on a wild pitch and four more in the seventh. After an out, the offense put together four straight singles, with RBIs coming from Brown and Schoenstadt. Schoenstadt later scored on an error and Treaster's single to right-center gave the Warriors' 10 runs.

Brown led the Warriors five multi-hit games, going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Gessner (2-for-4, three runs), Treaster (2-for-5, two RBIs), Yorks (2-for-3, 2 RBIs, run) and Schoenstadt (2-for-3, run, RBI), who moved into third place in program history with 118 career hits, also had multi-hit efforts. Shady went 1-for-3 with two runs and Warriner went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Maddy Johnson had three of Elmira's six hits, going 3-for-4 with a run.

McKenzie Slaven earned the loss, as she threw four innings and allowed one earned run. Katie MacDougal pitched the final three innings, allowing eight hits and three earned runs.

It was more of the same for the Warriors in the second game with strong pitching and opportunistic bats. After being retired in order in the first, Lycoming put up six hits and five runs in the next two innings. Warriner doubled to right field to score Shady and junior
Lexie Kovin's (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) RBI single made it 2-0. In the third, Brown scored on an error, Treaster followed with an RBI single and Kovin's groundout scored another run.

Elmira put up three two-out runs in the bottom of the inning before Lycoming put up five runs in the top of the fifth to put the game away. Kovin started a run of three straight scoring hits with another RBI single, Yorks' brought in two more with a base hit and Gessner brought another home with a single up the middle. She later scored on an error to make it 10-3.

Gessner put together her fourth straight multi-hit game with a 2-for-5 output, adding a run and an RBI. In the last four games, the freshman has raised her batting average 50 points. Yorks added two more hits, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Kovin also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Shady, like Schoenstadt, climbed up the program's career hits list, moving into fourth with 117 career hits, as she went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI and Warriner went 1-for-4, two runs and an RBI.

Johnson again went 3-for-4 for Elmira, adding a run.

McDougal earned the loss, throwing 4 1/3 innings and Bianca Palese pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, giving up a hit and run.

The Warriors return to action on Thursday, April 26, when they host Penn College at the Shangraw Athletic Complex at 3:30 p.m. in non-conference action.Â
