WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore
Devinity Apollon (Washington, D.C./School Without Walls) earned two wins, but the Lycoming College women's tennis team fell to 2017 MAC Commonwealth runner-up Lebanon Valley College, 7-2, in a conference match on Thursday afternoon, April 12, at Bruce Henry Park.
Apollon first teamed up with sophomore
Hannah Summerson (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. The Warriors (8-5 overall, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth) put up a fight in the other two doubles competitions, narrowly falling at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, and, 9-7, at No. 3 doubles.
Apollon then made quick work at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-1 decision for her 15
th combined career win.
The doubles win was the 50
th of Summerson's career, making her the ninth player in school history to reach 50 career combined wins.
Lebanon Valley improved its record to 6-6 overall and in the 2-1 MAC Commonwealth.
The Warriors return to the courts on Saturday, April 14, when they host Stevenson University in a MAC Commonwealth match at 1 p.m. at Bruce Henry Park.
