Warriors edged by Stevenson, 5-4

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Thanks to four singles wins, the Lycoming College women's tennis team nearly made a remarkable comeback after Stevenson University won all three doubles matches before holding on for a 5-4 MAC Commonwealth win on Saturday afternoon, April 14, at Bruce Henry Park.
 
Down 3-0 after doubles play, the Warriors (8-6 overall, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) rallied to tie the match, with sophomore Devinity Apollon (Washington D.C./School Without Walls) posting a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jenna Skove at No. 1, sophomore Hannah Summerson (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) posting a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Kirstyn Davidson at No. 2 and senior Kaitlin Hallabuk (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) notching a 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 win over Kelsi Mentzer at No. 3.
 
The Mustangs (5-7 overall, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) used wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to clinch the match before junior Brittany Lenze (St. Mary's, Pa./Elk County Catholic) gave Lycoming its fourth singles win, 6-1, 6-3 over Christina Endy at No. 5.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, April 17, when they head to Messiah College for a 3 p.m. match.
