WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) posted 23 points to go with a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the Lycoming College women's basketball team, which had a plus-16 differential on the glass, which it used to post a 77-69 win over Hunter College in the consolation game of the Hoops for Hounds Tournament on Sunday, Dec. 30, at Lamade Gym.

In the championship game, Rosemont beat Rutgers-Newark, 62-52, giving Rosemont head coach Rayne Reber her first tournament title with the Ravens. Ashley Murray was named the tournament MVP after posting 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Ravens in the title game.

Kline also added five assists and she notched a 12-point, 10-rebound first half. Junior
Akilah McFadden (
Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) finished with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists and All-Tournament Team selection, sophomore
Erica Lutz (Bernville, Pa./Hamburg) posted 17 points, seven rebounds and a block. Lutz finished the tournament, averaging 15.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.

Lycoming (9-4 overall) shot 54 percent (28-of-52) from the field in the game and finished 19-of-29 at the free throw line while holding Hunter (4-7 overall) to just 37 percent (24-of-66) from the field.

The Warriors used its transition game to get out to a hot start and a 20-point halftime lead, posting 18 fastbreak points in the first half and scoring 24 of its 43 points in the paint, led by eight offensive rebounds from Kline.

Lycoming took off in the second quarter, expanding a six-point lead to 23 with eight seconds left in the quarter off a bucket from freshman
Kelly Vuz (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) before a deep 3-pointer by Hunter banked in at the buzzer. The Warriors shot 64 percent (9-of-14) in the quarter, scoring 23 points in the process, while the Hawks were held to nine.

In the second half, Hunter was able to cut the lead to single digits late in the third quarter and they made another run to close within seven points at 69-62 with 6:09 left. Lycoming scored the next five points, though, with Kline hitting a layup in transition to get the lead back to double figures and it wasn't until the final minute that the Hawks could get closer than that, with Theresa Leung hit a three to make it 75-69. Lycoming scored the last two points of the game at the free throw line though.

Becca Painter (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) posted eight points and five assists and sophomore
Sydney Purcell (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) notched a career-best six assists. Senior
Jenn Grove (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) added six points and freshman
Allison Wagner (York, Pa./Central York) posted three points and five rebounds.

Janine Conway led the Hawks with 18 points and Leung finished with 15 points, five assists and three steals to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. Ashley Arias posted 11 points and nine rebounds and Jade Aponte had 13 points.

The Warriors hit the road for their next game, heading to Juniata College for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
