WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Erica Lutz (Bernville, Pa./Hamburg) notched her second straight double-double with career highs of 22 points and 15 rebounds, but the Lycoming College women's basketball team fell victim to a Susquehanna University team that shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to post a 72-65 non-conference win at Lamade Gym on Sunday evening, Nov. 25.
 
Lutz also added three assists and two steals to go with her career highs, as she hit 7-of-14 at the line and 8-of-10 at the free throw line. She also grabbed eight of Lycoming's 17 rebounds. Lycoming (3-2 overall) had three more rebounds (39-36) and four fewer turnovers (14-10), but Susquehanna (3-1 overall) shot 47 percent (26-of-55) from the field in the game and hit nine 3-pointers while Lycoming shot 32 percent.
 
Junior Akilah McFadden (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) added 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and a block and junior Kayla Kline (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) added eight points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Junior Morgan Mader (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) added seven points and a steal.
 
The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game's first two minutes, with McFadden draining a deep jumper to cap the run. Susquehanna offered a 9-2 run in response before taking a 14-12 lead at the end of the quarter.
 
The River Hawks added the first five points in the second quarter to take a 19-12 lead, but Lycoming used an 11-4 run to tie the game off back-to-back 3-pointers from senior Becca Painter (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and Mader. Late in the quarter, Lycoming scored five straight points to take a 32-29 lead into halftime.
 
The Warriors and River Hawks battled through seven ties and five lead changes in the third quarter before Susquehanna scored the last five points of the period in its last 90 seconds to take a 52-47 lead in the final quarter. The Warriors cut the lead to three twice early in the fourth, but a 12-2 run gave Susquehanna a 66-53 lead with 3:50 left. Lycoming closed the game on a 12-6 run, but couldn't get closer than seven points.
 
Erin McQuillen led the River Hawks with 21 points and five rebounds and Amanda Lemire added 17 points and three 3-pointers.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m., when they host Albright College as they open MAC Commonwealth play at Lamade Gym.
