WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Both late additions to the starting lineup, freshman
Kalu Ume (Laurel, Md./Laurel) and junior
George Charalabidis (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) scored in the game's first 10 minutes to lead the No. 2-seed Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the No. 3-seed Lebanon Valley College in the MAC Commonwealth Championship semifinal on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 1, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
Â
The Warriors (15-3-1 overall, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth) advance to the MAC Commonwealth Championship final for the fifth time in sixth years and will head to top-ranked and top-seeded Messiah for a 7:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Nov. 3. Messiah edged No. 4-seed Stevenson, 1-0, in the other semifinal.
Â
The Warriors got on the board in the third minute when sophomore
Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) sent a lead pass to a streaking Ume, who blew past three Flying Dutchmen, and made a move to get by
the charging keeper to connect for his first goal of the season, giving the team a 1-0 advantage.
Â
Ume was not done helping the Warriors build the early lead, as his shot in the 10
th minute was deflected to Charalabidis, who deflected it from the top of the box into the bottom right corner of the goal, his third goal of the year and second in as many games.
Â
The Warrior defense played well throughout, holding the Flying Dutchmen (10-6-1 overall, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth) to just two shots in the second half and a season-low six shots in the game.

Senior
Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) finished the game with four saves and earned his fourth career postseason win. Sean Quirk had two saves for the Flying Dutchman.
