Webb leads Warriors to ninth-straight win
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Jake Webb (Fairless Hills, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) assisted two first-half goals and scored the game-winner in the 77
th minute to lead the 14
th-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over MAC Commonwealth opponent Alvernia University on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 9, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex to tie a school-record with nine straight wins.
The Warriors (11-1-1 overall, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) tied a school record with the 2003 and 2015 squads with the ninth win a row, doing it while winning their sixth one-goal game during the run.
The Warriors got on the board early, scoring in the sixth minute when Webb saw an opportunity to drive down the middle of the defense across midfield and fired a pass from 35-yards out into the box to a streaking sophomore
Alex Henry (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle), who connected and scored his second goal of the season.
Webb got the Warriors on the board again in the 16
th minute when he hit senior
Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blaire) off a corner kick, who connected on a one-timer to bury the shot in the left upper-90 goal for his third of the season. The two assists on the game give Webb a team-leading eight on the year.
The Golden Wolves (5-8-2 overall, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) were able to take advantage of the Warriors having to play a man down for the entire second half, finding the back of the net twice, as Ryan Kuster headed in goals in the 61
st and 79
th minute off passes from Austin Young.
Webb scored the game-winner in the 77
th minute, though, as Lycoming kept the lead throughout the game. After freshman

Senior
