Warriors split on second day at Tip-Off Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) had 11 kills and eight digs to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) win over Alfred State to wrap up the team's Tip-Off Tournament at Lamade Gym on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6, at Lamade Gym. The Warriors fell in the opening match of the day to Rochester, 3-1 (21-25, 25-12, 25-15, 26-24).
 
Junior Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) posted five kills and two blocks in the match to secure a spot on the All-Tournament Team, after she had seven kills in the last two sets against Rochester.
 
Junior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) posted eight kills and two blocks, hitting .500 against Alfred State, and sophomore Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) posted seven kills and four digs.
 
Junior Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 27 assists, seven digs and five kills in the sweep and senior Emily Hepner ( Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) notched 15 digs. Junior Darci Warriner (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) provided three aces and nine digs.
 
Kiara Perkins posted nine kills and Madison Webster had 10 kills and 12 digs to lead the Pioneers (7-8 overall). Alysa Martin notched five kills and Jordan Stauffeneker posted 14 digs.
 
Lycoming (11-13 overall) hit an electric .393 in the last two sets to ensure the win.
 
Against Rochester, the Warriors started out strong, winning the first set, but Rochester hit .301 in the last two sets to finish off a 3-1 win (21-25, 25-12, 25-15, 26-24).
 
The match appeared destined for a fifth set, but Rochester fought off a set point from the Warriors and used three straight points to clinch the set.
 
Jednorski led the Warriors with seven kills in the last two sets and Singleton posted five and added eight digs. Hepner notched seven digs and Morris had 13 assists.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Oct. 9, when they host Arcadia University in a critical MAC Commonwealth match at 7 p.m.
