WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) became the second player in the history of the Lycoming College volleyball team to reach 2,000 career digs to highlight the first day of the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament at Lamade Gym on Friday night, Oct. 5. The Warriors fell to Elizabethtown, 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-19), and Catholic, 3-1 (25-10, 25-21, 18-25, 25-16), on the first day of the tournament.

The Warriors (10-12 overall) gave Hepner an extra set against Catholic to reach the milestone, which she did on the seventh point of the set and with her third dig of the set, as she joined school-record holder Emily Abel (2008-10, 2,081 digs) in the 2,000-dig club. She finished the match with 2,004 in her career, 71 shy of the school record, after piling up 43 digs during the pair of matches.

However, the Cardinals (14-9 overall) were able to close out the win with a 25-16 decision in the fourth set, as the posted 11 kills and just two errors to ensure the win.

Hepner finished with a match-high 29 digs to lead the Warriors, who posted 76 digs in the match. Sophomore
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hall, Md./Fallston) powered the offense with 14
kills, three blocks and a .565 hitting percentage. Junior
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) posted eight kills and junior
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) added seven kills and 10 digs. Junior
Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) finished with 17 assists and 11 digs and junior
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) added 19 assists and seven digs. Freshman
Angie King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) added nine digs and three blocks.

Mackenzie Collier posted 12 kills and 14 digs and Patricia Martinez added 12 kills and 16 digs to lead the Cardinals. Caroline Kelly posted 22 digs and Maria Gonzalez finished with 40 assists, 14 digs, four aces and three blocks.

The Warriors used a gritty performance against Elizabethtown (12-11 overall), scooping up nearly 50 percent more digs, but the Blue Jays were able to squeak past, 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-19).

The Warriors were led by 14 digs from Hepner, while Singleton posted six kills and nine digs and Morris posted 15 assists, eight digs and two blocks.

Offensively, the Warriors were led by nine kills from sophomore
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville), who also notched seven digs, and McDevitt posted seven blocks.

Sarah Schneider led the Blue Jays with nine kills, seven digs and two aces and Marisa Krinock finished with seven kills, six blocks and three aces. Rileigh Hudock posted 33 assists and Mackenzie Garner posted seven kills and four blocks.

The get back on the court on Saturday, Oct. 6, wrapping up the Tip-Off Tournament by facing the University of Rochester at 10 a.m. and Alfred State at 4 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
