GRANTHAM, Pa. – Junior
Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) finished with 25 assists and 11 digs in her first match in 11 days for her fourth straight double-double to lead the Lycoming College volleyball team, but Messiah College was able to notch a pair of close wins to outlast Lycoming, 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 26-24), in MAC Commonwealth action at Hitchcock Arena on Wednesday night, Oct. 3.

The Warriors fell to 10-10 overall and 3-3 in the MAC Commonwealth, as they are tied for the fifth and final conference tournament slot with Lebanon Valley, which is 2-2. The Warriors host second-place Arcadia on Tuesday, Oct. 9, and host Lebanon Valley on Oct. 23.

Juniors
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each had seven kills to lead the team. Sophomore
Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) added five kills and three digs. Junior
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) posted 13 digs to lead the team.

After a slow start in the first set, the Warriors battled throughout the second set, pounding down 16 kills and scooping up 22 digs, but Messiah (10-10 overall, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) was able to fend off a late run from Lycoming, which was down 23-20 before tying the set at 24. In the third set, the Warriors again fought back from down 22-18 to tie the set at 23 off four straight points on the serve from Morris. However, Messiah was able to score two straight points again to outlast the Warriors, 26-24.

Kate Preudhomme led the Falcons with 10 kills and Lanae Hunsberger posted eight kills. Natalie Marsch led the team with 14 digs and three blocks and Katie Wilcox finished with 20 assists.

The Warriors get back in action on Friday, Oct. 5, when they open the Lycoming Tip-Off Tournament by facing Elizabethtown at 4 p.m. and Catholic at 8 p.m.
