#17 Warriors win seventh straight

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The 17th-ranked Lycoming College soccer team received goals from freshman in each half to help itself to a 2-1 victory against non-conference opponent Moravian College on Wednesday evening, Oct. 3, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

The Warriors (9-1-1 overall), winners of seven straight, broke a scoreless tie in the 34th minute when senior Evan Zewe (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) crossed the ball into the box to freshman Josh Zinngrebe (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson), who found cutting freshman Tolu Iluyomade (Baltimore, Md./Mount Saint Joseph). Iluyomade was able to connect for his third goal of the season, a tie for the team lead.

The Warriors added some insurance in the 68th minute, when sophomore Alex Henry (Carisle, Pa./Carlisle) led a streaking freshman Tajhon Willis (Edgewood, Md./Joppatowne) to the top of the box, who then chipped the ball past the charging keeper for his third goal of the season, joining in a three-way tie for the team lead.

The Greyhounds (5-3-2 overall) closed the gap to a goal in the 73rd minute when Anthony Nagy crossed the ball to the far side of the box to Jared Stafford, who headed in the goal. The Warriors held on to their one-goal lead, as they didn't allow a shot in the final 17 minutes.

Senior Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) notched two saves in the contest for his eighth win. Michael Bone tallied eight saves for the Greyhounds, as Lycoming fired 21 shots in the match.

The Warriors are back in action Saturday, Oct. 6, with a 3:30 p.m. start when they host Stevenson University in a MAC Commonwealth contest at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
