George Charalabidis (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) scored his second goal of the season, but the 24
th-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team fell to Hood College, 2-1, in the MAC Commonwealth regular-season finale on Saturday, October, 27.
The Warriors (14-3-1 overall, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth) clinched a tie for the sixth-most wins in a regular season with the 2004, 2005, and 1992 squads.
Charalabidis tied the game at 1-1 in the 39
th minute when he snuck past the defense and connected on a perfectly placed corner kick from senior
Jake Webb (Fairless Hills, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic). The goal gave Webb his conference-leading 11
th assist, moving him into a tie for second in school history in the category.
The Blazers (8-7-1 overall, 2-6 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board first in the 19th minute off a goal from AJ Lewis. They scored the game-winner in the 52
nd minute when Alain Shekanino gained possession off a ball inside the box and fired a shot passed the left of the keeper.
Senior
Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) finished the game with a save for Lycoming and Danny Castillo finished with four saves for the Blazers.
The Warriors, the No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship, are back in action on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 1, when they host Lebanon Valley College, the third seed, in the conference semifinals at the Shangraw Athletic Complex at 2 p.m.
