Warriors down AMCC-leading Mounties in four

CRESSON, Pa. – Separating from Mount Aloysius College late in each of the last three sets, the Lycoming College volleyball team posted a 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22) non-conference win over the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference leaders on Thursday night, Oct. 25, at the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center.
 
Along the way, several Warriors reached milestones, with junior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) reaching 600 career kills and both sophomores Elle Jednorski (Forest Hall, Md./Fallston) and Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) each reaching 400.
 
Facing a set point to go down two sets in the second set, the Warriors (14-17 overall) rallied with two points before a kill from McDevitt clinched a 26-24 win to tie the match at one. In the third set, the Warriors had to rally back from a 6-0 deficit, tying the match at 16 and going on a 5-2 run to clinch the 25-22 win. In the fourth set, Mount Aloysius (16-10 overall) tied the set at 20 before Lycoming got three straight points, two off blocks, to take control of the 25-22 win.
 
Titus led the Warriors with 16 kills, hitting .481, and three blocks and Jednorski notched 12 kills and three blocks, hitting .320. Junior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) posted 11 kills and two aces and McDevitt notched nine kills and five blocks.
 
Junior Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 37 assists, eight digs and three aces and senior Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) notched 19 digs.
 
The Mounties were led by 16 kills from Sarah Fisher and nine kills and 16 digs from Machala Gibbons. Jessica Bressler posted 22 assists and three aces and Kylee Clawson posted 19 digs.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Oct. 26, when they head to the New York Regional Challenge in Rochester, N.Y., facing off with St. John Fisher College at the Rochester Institute of Technology at 5 p.m.
