Gilmore’s golden goal flies Warriors past LVC

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Bailey Gilmore (Ivyland, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored twice, including the game-winning goal in the final minute of double overtime to lift the Lycoming College women's soccer team to a 3-2 double-overtime win over Lebanon Valley College in MAC Commonwealth action on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

After a scoreless first-overtime period, Gilmore ended the game when she dribbled past a defender and fired a one-timer into the upper right 90 of the goal, as she moved into second on the team with four goals this season.

The Warriors (2-15 overall, 1-6 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board first in the sixth minute when sophomore Elle Sarracco (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) blew past her defender, dribbling inside the box and firing a shot to beat the keeper to the left post for her team-leading sixth goal.

The Flying Dutchmen (6-6-2 overall, 2-4-1 MAC Commonwealth) tied the contest in the 25th minute, but the Warriors took the lead back in the 37th minute when Gilmore made a move at the top of the box and connected for her first goal after receiving a pass from freshman Kyleigh Balint (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area).

Goldsmith, who scored the first goal, had her foot in another game-tying goal in the 67th minute when she found a cutting Rileigh Jo Evitts in the center of the box, who was able to get off a shot past the right of the keeper, setting up the dramatic end.

Senior Helen Ross (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) picked up the victory with 11 saves against 40 Flying Dutchmen shots. Serena Donmoyer played the full 110 minutes and finished with four saves.

The Warriors are back in action Saturday, Oct. 27, for their final regular-season game when they head to Frederick Md., to take on Hood College in MAC Commonwealth action for a 2:30 p.m. start.
