Hepner breaks career digs mark as Warriors sweep at Dickinson tri-match

CARLISLE, Pa. – Senior Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) became the Lycoming College volleyball team's leader in career digs in a prototypical performance, scooping up 34 digs through six sets and helping the team's defense hold its opponents to a .043 hitting percentage in a pair of 3-0 wins over Bryn Mawr College and Dickinson College on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Kline Center.
 
Hepner posted 14 digs against Bryn Mawr and added 20 more against Dickinson, breaking the career digs record with her sixth of nine digs in the third set of the sweep of the Devils (9-15 overall). Hepner, with 2,085 digs, broke the mark of Emily Abel (2008-10), who had 2,081.
 
The Warriors (13-14 overall) hit a solid .267 and held Bryn Mawr to .000 in the opening match of the day while posting a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-17) win.
 
Junior Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led the team with 13 kills, three aces and six digs while hitting .345, and sophomore Elle Jednorski (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) added 10 kills, hitting .471 to power the offense. Sophomore Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) added six kills and junior Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added three kills, three digs and three blocks.
 
Junior Lindsay Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community) posted eight digs and Hepner added 14 digs, two aces and four assists. Junior Emily Morris (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) posted 23 assists, seven digs, two kills and a block.
 
The Warriors hit .435 (11-1-23) in the first set and never looked back en route to the win. Nicole Wood led the Owls (6-12 overall) with seven kills, seven assists and six digs.
 
It was much of the same against the Devils, as Lycoming hit .235 and smashed 37 kills in the course of three sets while holding Dickinson to a .075 hitting percentage in the 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-21) win.
 
Jednorski posted 10 kills and added a block to lead the team and McDevitt posted seven kills, five blocks and hit .667 for the Warriors. Singleton notched six kills and nine digs, Titus had five kills and Morris posted five kills, 25 assists and nine digs. Beck also had seven digs.
 
Jamie Singer posted eight kills and Elise Butler had seven for the Devils. Alex Berezan posted 14 assists and Jacqueline Banker had 11 digs and two aces.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, Oct. 16, when they head to Lancaster Bible for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
