WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Despite a gutsy effort in the first set in which it earned a set point, the Lycoming College volleyball team fell to Susquehanna University, 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-8) in non-conference action at Lamade Gym on Wednesday night, Sept. 27.

The Warriors (8-7 overall) posted 16 digs in the first set, led by five from junior
Emily Hepner (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and used timely hitting in the first set to open up a 21-18 lead after kills from sophomore
Lilly Singleton (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and freshman
Molly Ball (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area) was followed by an attack error. The River Hawks (8-7 overall) came back to take a 23-22 lead, but it was the Warriors who got the first match point after a kill and an ace from Ball. However, Susquehanna won the next three points to take the set.

In the final two sets, Susquehanna hit .280 while forcing Lycoming into 16 attack errors to win the match.

Sophomore
Alysa McDevitt (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) led the Warriors with six kills and Singleton added five kills and five digs. Ball finished with three kills. Senior
Catherine Burger (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) led the team with 15 assists and Hepner posted 16 digs. Freshman
Kiannah Titus (Clay, N.Y./Baldwinsville) also added six digs.

Hannah Lyons led the River Hawks with nine kills and six blocks and Morgan Lowe added five kills. Caroline Boehm posted 13 digs and Kasey Bost had three aces and six digs. Helen Foreman led the team with 18 assists and she added two blocks.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, Sept. 30, when they head to Hood for a MAC Commonwealth tri-match, facing Stevenson at 11 a.m. and Hood at 1 p.m.
