Tueno's goals lift Warriors over Misericordia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior defender Sainclair Tueno (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) scored a goal in each half to lift the 15th-ranked Lycoming College men's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference win over Misericordia University on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

Tueno's first goal came on the Warriors' first shot of the game at 4:12 off a senior Danny Tierney (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) throw-in to make it, 1-0. Lycoming scored another first-half goal at 32:05 when senior Jordan Logan (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) crossed the ball into the 18-yard box where it found sophomore Tanner Fonjweng (Bear, Del./Glasgow), who volleyed the ball into the net for the 2-0 lead. It was Fonjweng's third goal of the season and Logan's 13th career assist, moving him into the top 15 in program history.

Tueno's second goal of the game and fourth of the season came at 53:11 off another throw-in from Tierney that bounced around on a failed clear before Tueno gathered it and fired in from about 15 yards out. It was Tueno's second multi-goal game of the season.

Junior Chris Solecki (Hainesport, N.J./Lenape) made two saves in the first 65:41 and sophomore Caleb Herrin (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) made a save and finished the game for the Warriors sixth shutout of the season. Misericordia's Patrick Hoffman made 10 saves in the loss.

Lycoming outshot the Cougars 25-7, with a 16-3 advantage in the first half as the midfield did a nice job winning 50/50 balls while the defense didn't allow many threats. The Warriors also had 10 corner kicks to Misericordia's one.

The Warriors return to the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host Widener in their first MAC Commonwealth game of the season at 3:30 p.m.
