Warriors shutdown Wolf Pack, 2-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With a goal in each half, the Lycoming College women's soccer team was able to win its second straight game, 2-0, over Keuka College in non-conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 17.

Senior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) and sophomore Mackaella Goodwin (Madison, N.J./Madison) each led the way with a goal and an assist. Lazarich became the first player in school history to accumulate at least 15 points in all four years of her career. She has six goals and three assists and also holds school records with 118 points and 53 goals.

Freshman goalkeeper Madi Welliver (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) made eight saves to earn her second shutout of the season, as she improved to 3-0 on the season. She notched several nice stops, stopping a breakaway in the first half and using her legs to stop a shot in the 85th minute.

Lycoming (3-4 overall) got on the board in the 24th minute when Welliver punted a ball past midfield that Lazarich controlled to her feet before flicking back to Goodwin, who gave a flick back to a streaking Lazarich, who beat the last defender to get on a breakaway, scoring with a shot from 12 yards out.

In the second half, the Warriors put the game away when Lazarich got the ball in the goal box and gave a quick pass to Goodwin, who fired a shot into the left corner in the 68th minute.

The Warriors took a season-high 22 shots in the win, forcing Keuka keeper Kenna Kosinski (0-2) to make eight saves. Lycoming also had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Wolf Pack (1-5 overall) took 15 shots.

The Warriors will get back on the field on Wednesday, Sept. 20, when they face King's in non-conference action at 4 p.m. at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
