Warriors play to scoreless draw with Monarchs

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Joelle Winey (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) and freshman goalkeeper Madi Welliver (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) combined for 110 scoreless minutes, as the Lycoming College women's soccer team posted its second straight shutout in a 0-0 double-overtime tie with King's (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 20, at the Shangraw Athletic Complex in a non-conference game.

Winey played the first 45 minutes, watching four shots, while Welliver, fresh off her first MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week award, played the final 65 minutes, making eight saves, including two in the first overtime and another in the second.

The Warriors' offense had 12 shots, including six on goal. Lycoming's best chance came with seven minutes left in regulation when senior Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the net but King's (3-2-1 overall) goalkeeper Elizabeth Nolen made a diving save to preserve the tie. Nolen made six saves for the Monarchs.

Lycoming (3-4-1 overall) returns to the field in its final non-conference game of the season when it heads to Harrisburg, Pa., to take on Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m.
